The mission of the UPPA Aid and Justice Center is to increase access to justice by delivering high-quality pro bono legal services to individuals and organizations to help bridge the legal gap between needs and solutions for communities around the world. It is designed to ensure that the communities can have access to free legal services.

HOW TO APPLY

STEP 1

Visit our website and complete the volunteer application form.

STEP 2 

Schedule an Interview

Once we receive your application, our team will reach out to schedule an interview with you.

STEP 3
Onboarding Training

After a successful interview, you will undergo basic training on how to use our tools effectively.

STEP 4
Start Volunteering

Upon completion of training, you can begin attending incoming calls to provide legal advice. You will be invited to join a group on our website, connecting you with other legal aid volunteers for support and collaboration.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Providing Legal Advice: Offer accurate and timely legal guidance to individuals and organizations contacting the hotline.

  • Active Listening: Listen attentively to callers, empathize with their situations, and provide appropriate support.

  • Maintaining Confidentiality: Ensure the confidentiality of all information shared during calls.

  • Documentation: Record essential details of each call for reference and follow-up purposes.

  • Collaboration: Coordinate with team members to address complex legal issues and provide comprehensive assistance.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Legal Knowledge: Possess a background in law, legal studies, or relevant field to provide accurate advice.

  2. Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with callers.

  3. Empathy and Patience: Ability to empathize with callers and demonstrate patience in addressing their concerns.

  4. Reliable Internet Connection: Access to a stable internet connection for seamless communication.

  5. Availability: Willingness to commit to scheduled shifts and be available to attend incoming calls during designated times.

  6. Training: Complete the training provided by the organization to familiarize oneself with tools and protocols.
